The 2018 European Society of Hypertension/ European Society of Cardiology Hypertension Guidelines have included heart rate among the factors influencing cardiovascular risk in patients with hypertension. This addition to the Guidelines emphasizes the importance of beta-blockers in the treatment of hypertension, especially for patients with compelling indications, such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, high heart rate or atrial fibrillation. Beta-blockers are a heterogeneous drug class and their important pharmacological characteristics, including cardioselectivity and hydrophilicity, are crucial for their effectiveness and tolerability. Finding the right drug for an individual patient and their unique clinical profile is important.
Scientific Seminars is proposing a high-level, multi-format, outcomes-based educational approach to accompany healthcare professionals along a progressive pathway towards changes in their clinical practice. The digital learning journey starts with an interview with international experts in sympathetic nervous system activity and hypertension, continues with a live webinar on hot topics in the clinical management of hypertensive patients, delivers discussion of real clinical cases with interactive elements and concludes with reports from outstanding scientific meetings on cardiology and hypertension.
