Patrice Mathevet completed his medical and biology studies at the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1. There he obtained his specialist qualification in gynecology-obstetrics (1990), which he completed with a certificate in clinical research methods and epidemiology (1991) and a Master’s degree in human biology (1991). A stay at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston (USA) as Visiting Professor Assistant (1992-1993) allowed him to work on carcinogenesis in relation to human papillomaviruses. 

Back in Lyon, he continued with a diploma of advanced studies (DEA) in differentiation, genetics and immunology (1994) and a doctorate in science (2002), while working as a hospital practitioner in the Department of Prof. Dargent at the Edouard Herriot Hospital in Lyon. Patrice Mathevet crowned this course with an Habilitation to direct research in 2003, before being appointed in 2005 university professor (University of Lyon 1), hospital practitioner and head of the Breast Care Unit at the University Hospital of Lyon. 

The scientist joined Lausanne in December 2012 as a visiting professor at UNIL and head physician at the CHUV’s Gynecology Department, before being appointed by competition for the title of ordinary professor at UNIL and head of the CHUV’s Gynecology Department. from October 1, 2013. The scientist brings with him his vast network of collaborations in Europe (Lyon, Paris, Genoa, Milan, Brussels, etc.) and across the Atlantic (New York, Houston, Quebec).
