Professor Nguyen is currently Associate Professor Emeritus and Senior Consultant in the Department of Endocrinology at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. During her career, she has held the Presidency of the Vietnam Association of Diabetes and Endocrinology and the Presidency of the Philippine Society of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. Professor Nguyen’s main area of research interest is the epidemiology of diabetes in South Vietnam, an area where diabetes, pre-diabetes and gestational diabetes are low relative to the rest of the world, but where incidence is increasing at alarming rates in tandem with economic and cultural transitions. Professor Nguyen also has research interests in diabetic nephropathy, lipid disorders in diabetes, hypoglycemia in diabetes, diabetic keto-acidosis, and thyroid disorders during pregnancy. She has published and presented both nationally and internationally on these topics.
